G\u00e9rald Savard has served as the mayor of the municipality of B\u00e9gin for nearly 30 years. He is descended from a long line of public servants. Like his father and grandfather, he has dedicated his life to serving the people of his municipality.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"9312933\" data-originallang=\"fr\">G\u00e9rald also served as reeve of the Fjord-du-Saguenay RCM for 13 years, during which he dedicated himself to developing our region. G\u00e9rald often spoke of Lucien Bouchard, who he said once told him that in order to succeed in politics, one must love people and act with courage. I can assure everyone that G\u00e9rald has always been known for his abiding love for the residents of B\u00e9gin and for his genuine interest in the people of our region.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"9312934\" data-originallang=\"fr\">Today I especially want to acknowledge G\u00e9rald's exemplary courage and perseverance. Despite a terminal cancer diagnosis, he continues to serve as mayor with the same passion and dedication he has shown for the past 30 years.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"9312935\" data-originallang=\"fr\">On behalf of everyone back home, and with the utmost respect, I wish to offer our most sincere congratulations on his exceptional career.</p>",
