        "en": "<p data-HoCid=\"8993246\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, we are in the aftermath of quite a historic moment in the House, where the main budget motion has passed on a budget that brings forward an investment plan focusing on investments in housing, investments in infrastructure, investments in defence, investments in talent and investments in productivity. They are investments that are really about triggering and unleashing private sector investment. We predict that the budget will bring forward $500 billion in additional private sector investment to this country over the next five years, and that is really private sector investment that we welcome throughout the different regions of this country.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993247\" data-originallang=\"en\">I will give some examples from the auto sector, particularly in St. Thomas. The hon. member would be aware of the new gigafactory, which has broken ground there now. There will be 3,000 direct jobs, 32,000 square metres of concrete and 4,850 metric tonnes of rebar. It will be a significant plant that will bring thousands of jobs to the hon. member's riding, and as he is well aware, when we bring direct jobs into the auto sector, there are all kinds of spinoff jobs, indirect jobs and induced jobs.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993248\" data-originallang=\"en\">The hon. member will know well the mayor of St. Thomas, who was quoted saying, a few weeks ago, \u201cThe mayor hasn't stopped smiling since.\u201d He is referring to himself. He continued with this: \u201cGenerations in the future can...have a job that pays well enough to buy a home in St. Thomas and become part of a really vibrant community.\u201d That is some of the positive investment that comes into the next generation of automotive technology in Canada, which we know is increasingly electric.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993249\" data-originallang=\"en\">I invite my hon. colleague to come on over and see the benefits of the growth of EV technology over the longer term. It is something that is being recognized in his community, and it is part of a larger defence of the auto sector that involves also being very attentive to the concerns that have been raised.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993250\" data-originallang=\"en\"> The hon. member mentioned Ingersoll. The <a data-HoCid=\"318679\" href=\"/politicians/melanie-joly/\" title=\"M\u00e9lanie Joly\">Minister of Industry</a> has been present in Ingersoll and in Brampton, sitting down with the workers and being very direct and forceful with the companies that are threatening to not honour some of the commitments they have made, not just to this side of the House but to all Canadians, including the member's constituents.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993251\" data-originallang=\"en\">We think this is the appropriate approach to take: to be engaged with the workers, to be engaged with the Canadian sector that is here, and to be very engaged with those who are deploying capital and show them the value of deploying capital here, whether they are the American companies, American-based companies or global companies.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993252\" data-originallang=\"en\">Again, this is all in the context of a budget that we think is an investment budget, but one that actually does not quite do what I think the hon. member is concerned about with respect to fiscal policy. I think he would know if he looked more deeply into the charts in the budget that the budget will, over a three-year period, balance operating spending with revenues and make sure that the capital investments are the ones that we are borrowing funds to make. He would also be aware that it is capital investments that are the pro-economic investments that unleash all kinds of opportunities for people in his riding as well as across the country.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993253\" data-originallang=\"en\"> I think the government and the <a data-HoCid=\"318679\" href=\"/politicians/melanie-joly/\" title=\"M\u00e9lanie Joly\">Minister of Industry</a> have been very attentive to the specific needs and concerns in southern Ontario, and we are very active and involved in both securing investment and protecting the jobs that do exist there.</p>",

Nous pr\u00e9voyons qu'au cours des cinq prochaines ann\u00e9es, le budget attirera au pays 500 milliards de dollars d'investissements suppl\u00e9mentaires de la part du secteur priv\u00e9, et ces investissements du secteur priv\u00e9 sont vraiment bien accueillis dans les diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9gions du pays.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993247\" data-originallang=\"en\">Je vais donner quelques exemples qui concernent le secteur de l'automobile, et plus particuli\u00e8rement celui de St. Thomas. Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 doit \u00eatre au courant du projet de construction d'une nouvelle m\u00e9ga-usine qui vient d'\u00eatre mise en chantier. Il y aura 3 000 emplois directs, 32 000 m\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s de b\u00e9ton et 4 850 tonnes m\u00e9triques de barres d'armature. Cette importante usine cr\u00e9era des milliers d'emplois dans la circonscription du d\u00e9put\u00e9 et, comme il le sait tr\u00e8s bien, lorsque des emplois directs sont cr\u00e9\u00e9s dans le secteur de l'automobile, il y a aussi toutes sortes d'emplois indirects et d'emplois induits.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993248\" data-originallang=\"en\"> Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 conna\u00eet bien le maire de St. Thomas, qui a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 ceci il y a quelques semaines: \u00ab Le maire n'a pas arr\u00eat\u00e9 de sourire depuis. \u00bb Il parlait de lui-m\u00eame. Il a poursuivi ainsi: \u00ab Les prochaines g\u00e9n\u00e9rations pourront [...] trouver un emploi suffisamment bien r\u00e9mun\u00e9r\u00e9 pour acheter une maison \u00e0 St. Thomas et faire partie d'une ville vraiment dynamique. \u00bb Il s'agit d'un investissement positif dans la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de technologies automobiles au Canada, qui, comme nous le savons, sont de plus en plus \u00e9lectriques.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993249\" data-originallang=\"en\">J'invite mon coll\u00e8gue \u00e0 venir constater les avantages de la croissance \u00e0 long terme de la technologie des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. C'est quelque chose que l'on reconna\u00eet dans sa circonscription et qui fait partie d'une initiative plus large visant \u00e0 d\u00e9fendre le secteur automobile, qui comprend \u00e9galement le fait d'\u00eatre tr\u00e8s attentif aux pr\u00e9occupations qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soulev\u00e9es.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993250\" data-originallang=\"en\">Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 a mentionn\u00e9 Ingersoll. La <a data-HoCid=\"318679\" href=\"/politicians/melanie-joly/\" title=\"M\u00e9lanie Joly\">ministre de l'Industrie</a> s'est rendue \u00e0 Ingersoll et \u00e0 Brampton, o\u00f9 elle s'est entretenue avec les travailleurs et s'est montr\u00e9e tr\u00e8s directe et ferme envers les entreprises qui menacent de ne pas respecter certains des engagements qu'elles ont pris, non seulement envers le gouvernement, mais aussi envers tous les Canadiens, y compris les concitoyens du d\u00e9put\u00e9.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993251\" data-originallang=\"en\">Nous estimons que c'est la bonne approche \u00e0 adopter: nous impliquer aupr\u00e8s des travailleurs, nous impliquer aupr\u00e8s du secteur canadien qui est pr\u00e9sent ici, et nous impliquer fortement aupr\u00e8s de ceux qui investissent des capitaux afin de leur d\u00e9montrer l'int\u00e9r\u00eat d'investir ici, qu'il s'agisse d'entreprises am\u00e9ricaines, d'entreprises bas\u00e9es aux \u00c9tats\u2011Unis ou de multinationales.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993252\" data-originallang=\"en\">Encore une fois, tout cela s'inscrit dans le contexte d'un budget que nous consid\u00e9rons comme un budget d'investissement et qui, en r\u00e9alit\u00e9, ne correspond pas tout \u00e0 fait aux pr\u00e9occupations du d\u00e9put\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re de politique budg\u00e9taire. Je pense qu'il se rendrait compte, s'il examinait plus attentivement les tableaux du budget, que celui-ci pr\u00e9voit, sur une p\u00e9riode de trois ans, d'\u00e9quilibrer les d\u00e9penses de fonctionnement et les recettes, et de n'emprunter des fonds que pour financer des investissements en capital. Il se rendrait \u00e9galement compte que ce sont des investissements en capital qui sont favorables \u00e0 l'\u00e9conomie et qui ouvrent toutes sortes de possibilit\u00e9s pour les habitants de sa circonscription et de tout le pays.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8993253\" data-originallang=\"en\">Je trouve que le gouvernement et la <a data-HoCid=\"318679\" href=\"/politicians/melanie-joly/\" title=\"M\u00e9lanie Joly\">ministre de l'Industrie</a> ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s attentifs aux besoins et aux pr\u00e9occupations propres au Sud de l'Ontario, et nous sommes tr\u00e8s actifs et pr\u00e9sents pour garantir les investissements et prot\u00e9ger les emplois qui existent d\u00e9j\u00e0 dans la r\u00e9gion.</p>"
