I thank the hon. member for Sherwood Park\u2014Fort Saskatchewan for the question of privilege that he raised. I commend the Speaker on his ruling and I welcome the motion that is being debated here.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8377913\" data-originallang=\"fr\">As the hon. member said, 18 elected members of Parliament, himself included, were targeted by foreign powers because they are elected members of the House. Foreign powers are interfering through questionable practices, and that is unacceptable. Second, I understand that the hon. member and the other members who were affected were not immediately informed when official authorities and the government obtained the information, and that is unacceptable. We need to ensure that we have a mechanism so that this vital information gets to the members involved, whether it be through the government, the official authorities or the whips' offices.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8377914\" data-originallang=\"fr\">I would like to remind my colleagues of something that CSIS is always reminding us of, and that is that Canada and the provinces have one of the worst records in the world when it comes to foreign interference. That has to change. Obviously, we will support the motion. We want this matter to be examined as soon as possible and to be given priority by the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs. In closing, I would like to remind members that democracy is fragile. We need to protect it, take care of it and allow it to thrive.</p>",

Ensuite, j'ai bien compris que le d\u00e9put\u00e9 et les d\u00e9put\u00e9s n'ont pas imm\u00e9diatement \u00e9t\u00e9 inform\u00e9s quand les instances officielles et le gouvernement ont eu l'information, ce qui est inacceptable. Il faut s'assurer d'avoir un m\u00e9canisme pour que cette information cruciale se rende aux d\u00e9put\u00e9s concern\u00e9s, que ce soit par le gouvernement, les instances officielles ou les bureaux des whips.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8377914\" data-originallang=\"fr\"> Je tiens \u00e0 rappeler \u00e0 mes coll\u00e8gues, et le SCRS nous le rappelle constamment, que le Canada et les provinces sont des cancres dans le monde entier en termes d'ing\u00e9rence \u00e9trang\u00e8re. Il faut que \u00e7a change. \u00c9videmment, nous allons appuyer la motion. Nous voulons que la question soit \u00e9tudi\u00e9e dans les meilleurs d\u00e9lais, de mani\u00e8re prioritaire, au Comit\u00e9 permanent de la proc\u00e9dure et des affaires de la Chambre. En terminant, je tiens \u00e0 rappeler que, la d\u00e9mocratie, c'est quelque chose de fragile. Il faut la prot\u00e9ger, en prendre soin et lui permettre de se d\u00e9ployer.</p>"
