        "en": "<p data-HoCid=\"7840319\" data-originallang=\"en\">Madam Speaker, the member asked for an example of a technology that can defeat climate change. There is one that the government killed, which is the tidal power the private sector was trying to build in Nova Scotia. It would have been a tidal power system that would allow the forces of the ocean to turn propellers and generate electricity, which could be beamed to the shores and put into the electrical grid without a single tonne of emissions going into the atmosphere.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840320\" data-originallang=\"en\">What could stop such a common-sense idea from happening? The federal government could stop it by imposing six years of delays through Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Without even proving that a single, solitary fish or frog would lose its life, the Liberals managed to kill this common-sense idea and prevent Nova Scotians from powering their electrical grid with the forces of the seas.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840321\" data-originallang=\"en\">Under my government, we would green light green technology and allow for our brilliant engineers to invent the technology that will bring about cleaner, greener and more affordable electricity.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840322\" data-originallang=\"en\">I have a second example. I will throw it in for free. It is hydroelectric dams. I wish I could say this was a new idea, but fortunately, the brilliant Quebec engineers and construction workers mastered it, and the Manitobans did as well, with massive hydroelectric dams that use the force of gravity and H2O to generate the electricity necessary to power our homes. Again, that is without a single tonne of emissions going into the atmosphere.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840323\" data-originallang=\"en\">What stands in the way? Duplicative bureaucracy and the government gamekeepers. The <a data-HoCid=\"214296\" href=\"/politicians/justin-trudeau/\" title=\"Justin Trudeau\">Prime Minister</a> insists on doing a second level of environmental evaluations stacked on top of the first. That is the exact same process done twice, which takes over twice the time, making the projects back up their completion date and increase their costs.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840324\" data-originallang=\"en\">For example, Quebec needs to increase its electricity by 100% over the next several decades. It can only do it if it builds more hydroelectric dams. Only a Conservative government, led by me as prime minister, will get out of the way to let Quebeckers build hydroelectric dams.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840325\" data-originallang=\"en\">Then there is the mighty power of the atom with nuclear power here in Ontario. If we look around this room, one in two light bulbs that illuminate this room, so members can be here to hear this wonderful speech, is powered by nuclear energy. The nuclear power is safe, reliable and emissions-free, yet it takes up to 15 years to get a nuclear plant approved.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840326\" data-originallang=\"en\">We all agree that nuclear power should be supplied safely and that all of the necessary steps to protect surrounding communities should be followed. That said, what are we going to learn about safety or environmental protection in years 14 and 15 that we could not have learned in years 1, 2, 3 and 4? We can have the exact same strict environmental and public safety protections, but do them faster so that we can bring in nuclear energy and small modular nuclear reactors.</p>",

Le fait que le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral, par l'entremise de P\u00eaches et Oc\u00e9ans Canada, a impos\u00e9 des d\u00e9lais de six ans. Sans m\u00eame prouver qu'un seul poisson ou une seule grenouille perdrait la vie, les lib\u00e9raux ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 torpiller cette id\u00e9e pleine de bon sens et \u00e0 emp\u00eacher les N\u00e9o-\u00c9cossais d'alimenter leur r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique avec les forces de la mer.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840321\" data-originallang=\"en\">Le gouvernement conservateur, sous ma gouverne, donnerait le feu vert aux technologies vertes et permettrait \u00e0 nos brillants ing\u00e9nieurs d'inventer la technologie qui produira une \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 plus propre, plus verte et plus abordable.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840322\" data-originallang=\"en\">Tant qu'\u00e0 y \u00eatre, j'ai un deuxi\u00e8me exemple: les barrages hydro\u00e9lectriques. J'aimerais pouvoir dire que c'est une nouvelle id\u00e9e mais, heureusement, les brillants travailleurs de la construction et ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec sont pass\u00e9s ma\u00eetres en la mati\u00e8re, ainsi que les Manitobains. Par cons\u00e9quent, la date d'ach\u00e8vement des projets est retard\u00e9e, et leur co\u00fbt augmente.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840324\" data-originallang=\"en\">Par exemple, le Qu\u00e9bec doit augmenter sa production d'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 de 100 % au cours des prochaines d\u00e9cennies. Il ne pourra y arriver qu'en construisant de nouveaux barrages hydro\u00e9lectriques. Seul un gouvernement conservateur, dirig\u00e9 par moi, en tant que premier ministre, s'enl\u00e8vera du chemin pour laisser les Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois b\u00e2tir ces barrages.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840325\" data-originallang=\"en\">Il y a \u00e9galement la puissance redoutable de l'atome, l'\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire en Ontario. Dans cette salle, une ampoule sur deux qui permet aux d\u00e9put\u00e9s de profiter de cet excellent discours est aliment\u00e9e par l'\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire. C'est une forme d'\u00e9nergie s\u00fbre, fiable et carboneutre. Pourtant, il faut jusqu'\u00e0 15 ans pour faire approuver une usine nucl\u00e9aire.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7840326\" data-originallang=\"en\">Nous convenons tous que l'\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire doit \u00eatre distribu\u00e9e en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et que toutes les mesures n\u00e9cessaires pour prot\u00e9ger les collectivit\u00e9s environnantes doivent \u00eatre prises. Cela dit, qu'allons-nous apprendre en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 ou de protection de l'environnement durant la 14<sup>e</sup> et la 15<sup>e</sup> ann\u00e9e que nous n'aurions pas pu apprendre durant la 1<sup>re</sup>, la 2<sup>e</sup>, la 3<sup>e</sup> et la 4<sup>e</sup> ann\u00e9e? Nous pouvons adopter exactement les m\u00eames mesures de protection strictes de l'environnement et du public, mais les mettre en place plus rapidement afin de pouvoir exploiter l'\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire et les petits r\u00e9acteurs nucl\u00e9aires modulaires.</p>"
