"en": "<p data-HoCid=\"7866495\" data-originallang=\"en\">Madam Speaker, we agree that it is high time that Bill <a data-HoCid=\"11501554\" href=\"/bills/44-1/C-9/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Judges Act\">C-9</a> becomes law.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7866496\" data-originallang=\"en\">I am disappointed to hear that the government is rejecting an amendment put forward by the other place that we think is very important, and that is the right to appeal to the Federal Court of Appeal. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7866497\" data-originallang=\"en\">Right now Bill <a data-HoCid=\"11501554\" href=\"/bills/44-1/C-9/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Judges Act\">C-9</a> says that there can be an appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada, but that is really just a right to apply for leave to appeal, and very few applications for leave to appeal are actually approved by the Supreme Court of Canada. It is something under 10%. Witnesses at committee have said that this is really just a faint hope for a judge who is perhaps going to lose his livelihood, reputation and legal profession. In the opinion of those experts in appeals, there should be one real appeal, and it should be to the Federal Court of Appeal.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7866498\" data-originallang=\"en\">I wonder what the minister would say.</p>",
