I know that the member's colleagues in her party have been making this point in debate, and it is a good one. It is a strong contrast to what the <a data-HoCid=\"300691\" href=\"/politicians/kevin-lamoureux/\" title=\"Kevin Lamoureux\">parliamentary secretary</a> said when he characterized the scrutiny of the agreement as \u201csilly games\u201d. That is not appropriate. That actually denigrates Parliament and our role.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8002488\" data-originallang=\"en\">I would point out again that, in debate, our colleague from <a data-HoCid=\"278628\" href=\"/politicians/richard-cannings/\" title=\"Richard Cannings\">South Okanagan\u2014West Kootenay</a> pointed out that the government made a commitment to Parliament to give advance notice and to have trade negotiation go through the international trade committee. That has not happened in this case, and it is incumbent upon us to point out that Parliament has a role. We have a large, diverse regional economy, where we have many stakeholders who will want feedback. That is our job, and I fully support the member's assertion that the government did not undertake that in this instance, and now we have a duty as parliamentarians to undertake that role.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"8002489\" data-originallang=\"en\">That is an excellent point that I fully agree with.</p>",
