He is one of my constituents, and he was wrongfully imprisoned by the Algerian authorities for many weeks for attending demonstrations in Montreal calling for more democracy in Algeria.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7136411\" data-originallang=\"fr\">Mr. Zoua\u00efmia is a symbol of courage and resilience, a true defender of the principles and values that we all hold dear, namely democracy, the rule of law, freedom and respect for human dignity. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7136412\" data-originallang=\"fr\">As we speak, several other people are in the same situation Mr. Zoua\u00efmia was in. That is why we must strengthen our ties with Africa in order to support the members of African civil society who are calling for more democracy in their countries.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"7136413\" data-originallang=\"fr\">Again, welcome home, Mr. Zoua\u00efmia. I hope he gets to spend quality time with the people he loves.</p>",
