"en": "<p data-HoCid=\"5992998\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, I want to thank the member for <a data-HoCid=\"214240\" href=\"/politicians/todd-doherty/\" title=\"Todd Doherty\">Cariboo\u2014Prince George</a> for his speech on this topic, the Senate amendments to Bill <a data-HoCid=\"9630814\" href=\"/bills/42-1/C-68/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and other Acts in consequence\">C-68</a>. We have sat together on the fisheries committee for years now. We have seen a government that has totally ignored the restoration of fish stocks across the country. Time and again, recommendations from our committee have called on the current government to take action. It failed to do so.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5992999\" data-originallang=\"en\">I also want to speak briefly on comments I got from a fisheries officer, who said that the changes we made in 2012 made it much easier for fisheries officers to do their job. Rather than having to gather incredible amounts of evidence, convince Crown prosecutors and then take cases to court, which would take years to prosecute, with the changes made in 2012 fisheries officers are able to immediately demand restoration where damage has been done. There has been no indication that habitat has been lost or damaged in any of the evidence ever produced by the government or in testimony at committee.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5993000\" data-originallang=\"en\">I would like the member to comment further on why the government fails to do anything to restore fish stocks, whether Atlantic salmon or salmon on the west coast, and why it continues to push this ill-conceived bill through the House.</p>",

Il m'a dit que les changements que nous avons faits en 2012 avaient grandement facilit\u00e9 son travail et celui de ses coll\u00e8gues. Au lieu d'avoir \u00e0 recueillir une \u00e9norme quantit\u00e9 d'\u00e9l\u00e9ments de preuve, \u00e0 convaincre les procureurs de la Couronne et \u00e0 recourir aux tribunaux, ce qui n\u00e9cessite des ann\u00e9es de travail, les agents des p\u00eaches, gr\u00e2ce aux changements apport\u00e9s en 2012, peuvent exiger imm\u00e9diatement la prise de mesures de restauration \u00e0 l'endroit qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 endommag\u00e9. Rien dans l'ensemble des documents fournis par le gouvernement et rien dans les t\u00e9moignages au comit\u00e9 n'indique que des habitats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 perdus ou endommag\u00e9s.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5993000\" data-originallang=\"en\">J'aimerais que le d\u00e9put\u00e9 nous dise pourquoi, d'apr\u00e8s lui, le gouvernement ne fait absolument rien pour r\u00e9tablir les stocks de poisson, que ce soit le saumon de l'Atlantique ou le saumon de la c\u00f4te Ouest, et pourquoi il s'ent\u00eate \u00e0 pousser l'adoption de ce projet de loi mal con\u00e7u \u00e0 la Chambre.</p>"
