"en": "<p data-HoCid=\"5099450\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, later this month, we will be debating my private member's bill, Bill <a data-HoCid=\"8867011\" href=\"/bills/42-1/C-354/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act (use of wood)\">C-354</a>. The bill calls on the government to consider wood when building federal infrastructure, applying a dual lens of lifetime cost and greenhouse gas reduction. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5099451\" data-originallang=\"en\">First, we are witnessing a revolution in the architecture of large buildings around the world, tall wood buildings that are beautiful, safe, and cost competitive. The government loves innovation, and Canada is at the forefront of this mass wood innovation in North America. Government procurement will help our industry thrive and stay ahead of the curve. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5099452\" data-originallang=\"en\">Second, the government made commitments in Paris to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Much of that footprint is in our buildings and how they are constructed. The carbon captured in wood could significantly reduce those emissions.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5099453\" data-originallang=\"en\"> Finally, building with wood will support our forest sector. Unfair softwood tariffs in the U.S.A. have hit this industry hard, and expanding our domestic markets will help workers across the country keep good, well-paying jobs. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5099454\" data-originallang=\"en\">I ask everyone here to support Bill <a data-HoCid=\"8867011\" href=\"/bills/42-1/C-354/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act (use of wood)\">C-354</a>.</p>",

Une grande partie de l\u2019empreinte \u00e9cologique du Canada provient des immeubles et de leur mode de construction. La capture du carbone par le bois pourrait r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement ces \u00e9missions.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"5099453\" data-originallang=\"en\">Enfin, les constructions en bois appuieraient le secteur forestier. Les droits de douane injustes impos\u00e9s sur le bois d\u2019oeuvre par les \u00c9tats-Unis ont durement touch\u00e9 l\u2019industrie.
