Fundamental to each individual Canadian is the right to be themselves and to be protected while being themselves.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4555380\" data-originallang=\"en\">In terms of any willful promotion of hatred that could potentially exist against trans individuals or people of different gender expressions, that is why we are introducing Bill <a data-HoCid=\"8269852\" href=\"/bills/42-1/C-16/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code\">C-16</a>, as upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada in terms of its constitutionality. I recognize freedom of religion. It is important to respect those freedoms and the rights contained in our Constitution but to also ensure that everyone has the ability to feel safe, to be themselves, to express who they are, and to succeed as all Canadians do in this country.</p>",
