I sat on that side of the House for the entire tenure of the Conservative government.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4182944\" data-originallang=\"en\">To my surprise, I heard him say that there should be a free vote within the House, and to my surprise, the member referred to the tyrannical majority government. I swear there is a small indentation on this floor where my rear end landed, because I jumped and fell right out of my chair. When the member started to talk and lecture us about freeing up the votes within the House, I thought, honest to goodness, this is something that was not done in the past 8 to 10 years, which is the responsible way to look at a project of this magnitude stretching across this country.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4182945\" data-originallang=\"en\">We know the benefits. Newfoundland and Labrador is not directly affected by this, but we know the benefits of this industry and now the turmoil created by the situation in the oil and gas sector.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4182946\" data-originallang=\"en\">Could my hon. colleague talk very briefly to us about what is the responsible way, because we never saw it in those years of Conservative government?</p>",

Je jure aux d\u00e9put\u00e9s que j'ai laiss\u00e9 une marque sur le parquet lorsque je suis tomb\u00e9 de mon si\u00e8ge. Quand le d\u00e9put\u00e9 s'est mis \u00e0 parler et \u00e0 nous faire la morale au sujet de la tenue de votes libres \u00e0 la Chambre, parole d'honneur, je me suis dit que c'est quelque chose qu'on n'a pas vu \u00e0 la Chambre depuis bien 8 ou 10 ans, alors que ce serait l'approche responsable \u00e0 prendre \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard d'un projet d'une telle envergure qui s'\u00e9tendrait aux quatre coins du pays.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4182945\" data-originallang=\"en\">Nous connaissons les avantages du projet. Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador n'est pas directement touch\u00e9e, mais nous connaissons les avantages que conf\u00e8re le secteur p\u00e9trolier et gazier, ainsi que les bouleversements caus\u00e9s par ses renversements.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4182946\" data-originallang=\"en\">Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 pourrait-il nous dire deux mots sur ce qui constituerait une approche responsable \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 que le gouvernement conservateur n'en a pas adopt\u00e9 une seule durant toutes ses ann\u00e9es au pouvoir?</p>"
