        "en": "<p data-HoCid=\"4161483\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, I want to thank the hon. member for that question. I also want to thank him for all of the hard work that he has done over the years. He is certainly recognized as a leader in his community and in our party on this side of the House, if not throughout the entire House, for his dedication and support on issues that bring families comfort not only here in Canada but around the world. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4161484\" data-originallang=\"en\">Hearing the story that he heard when he was overseas is yet another example of the importance of legislation such as this. One of the things that I have been saying this morning is how important this legislation is for victims. When we sit on committee, our studies generally do not evoke the kind of emotion that a study like this one does. We can appreciate very well the importance of this legislation to those who have been victims of honour-based violence in their own families.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4161485\" data-originallang=\"en\">I referred earlier to a lady who had to have her jaw reconstructed. After many years in a very abusive marriage, she was empowered to speak out, and there she was, sitting in front of a parliamentary committee in the Parliament of Canada, relating in a very passionate way her support for the bill and the importance of it, because it would give a voice to the victims.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4161486\" data-originallang=\"en\">As a government, we have a responsibility to protect Canadians and all of those who come to our beautiful country.</p>",

Ce matin, j'ai notamment dit \u00e0 quel point ce projet de loi est important pour les victimes. Nos \u00e9tudes en comit\u00e9 sont rarement aussi charg\u00e9es d'\u00e9motion que cette \u00e9tude l'a \u00e9t\u00e9. Nous pouvons tr\u00e8s bien appr\u00e9cier l'importance de ce projet de loi pour les personnes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 victimes d'actes de violence fond\u00e9s sur l'honneur dans leur propre famille.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4161485\" data-originallang=\"en\">Plus t\u00f4t, j'ai parl\u00e9 d'une femme qui a d\u00fb subir une reconstruction de la m\u00e2choire. Elle a v\u00e9cu pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es avec un \u00e9poux qui la maltraitait. Lorsqu'on lui a permis de prendre la parole devant un comit\u00e9 du Parlement du Canada, elle a exprim\u00e9 avec passion son appui \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard du projet de loi et l'importance que rev\u00eat une telle mesure puisqu'elle permettrait aux victimes d'avoir voix au chapitre.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4161486\" data-originallang=\"en\">Le gouvernement a la responsabilit\u00e9 de prot\u00e9ger les Canadiens et tous ceux qui viennent dans notre magnifique pays.</p>"
