When we bring our personal stories here, it brings to light the reasons for why we are here.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4173627\" data-originallang=\"en\">I would also like to share that I had the honour of working as a constituency assistant for the former member of Nanaimo\u2014Cowichan, <a data-HoCid=\"56086\" href=\"/politicians/jean-crowder/\" title=\"Jean Crowder\">Jean Crowder</a>, who was a colleague to many in this House. When doing that constituency work, I also had the experience of witnessing people who had to work two or three jobs just to make ends meet. For many of these people, the 40-hour work week was simply not providing the means to get the job done.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4173628\" data-originallang=\"en\"> I would like to ask my hon. colleague to help those people, to give them a livable wage. Will he join with us and establish a federal minimum wage of $15 an hour, so we can show the leadership necessary in this great country of ours that the provinces may follow?</p>",

Dans le cadre de ce travail, j'ai eu l'occasion de constater que certaines personnes devaient occuper deux ou trois emplois uniquement pour arriver \u00e0 joindre les deux bouts. Bon nombre d'entre elles ne gagnaient tout simplement pas assez d'argent pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 leurs besoins en travaillant 40 heures par semaine.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"4173628\" data-originallang=\"en\">Je veux demander \u00e0 mon coll\u00e8gue d'aider ces gens et de leur donner un salaire qui leur permettra de subvenir \u00e0 leurs besoins. Va-t-il collaborer avec nous pour porter le salaire minimum f\u00e9d\u00e9ral \u00e0 15 $ l'heure, ce qui nous permettrait de donner l'exemple au reste de notre merveilleux pays et d'inciter les provinces \u00e0 nous embo\u00eeter le pas?</p>"
