The bill clearly puts forth some excellent points in dealing with the regulation of the whole citizenship and immigration consultant industry.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3592772\" data-originallang=\"en\">In the second part of his question, of course I am a member of Parliament from the Greater Toronto Area. He will be happy to hear this, I am sure. One of the things the bill does is streamline the decision making process for granting citizenship. We are going to have more people within the decision making body now, people who are experts, officers in citizenship and immigration. Once they obtain all of the proper information, they will be able to grant citizenship, whereas today, the authority for that only belongs to citizenship judges.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3592773\" data-originallang=\"en\">If the bill passes through the House\u2014and I hope all members see the light and pass it, because it really is excellent legislation\u2014it would speed up the process from a three-step process to a one-step process. Those people coming into our offices would obtain their citizenship in under a year, as opposed to waiting the length of time they are waiting now.</p>",

Un nombre accru d'intervenants, c'est-\u00e0-dire de sp\u00e9cialistes et d'agents de la citoyennet\u00e9 et de l'immigration, seront d\u00e9sormais appel\u00e9s \u00e0 participer au processus d\u00e9cisionnel. L'organisme d\u00e9cisionnel pourra accorder la citoyennet\u00e9 lorsqu'il disposera de toute l'information pertinente. \u00c0 l'heure actuelle, seuls des juges de la citoyennet\u00e9 ont un tel pouvoir.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3592773\" data-originallang=\"en\">Si le projet de loi est adopt\u00e9 \u00e0 la Chambre \u2014 et j'esp\u00e8re que tous les d\u00e9put\u00e9s entendront raison et l'adopteront, car il s'agit d'une excellente mesure l\u00e9gislative \u2014, le processus actuel \u00e0 trois \u00e9tapes serait fusionn\u00e9 en une seule \u00e9tape. Les gens qui viennent nous voir \u00e0 nos bureaux obtiendraient leur citoyennet\u00e9 en moins d'un an au lieu du d\u00e9lai d'attente actuel.</p>"
