I already asked the question earlier this morning. The former premier of the Northwest Territories, Stephen Kakfwi, had some rather harsh words for these proposals. I think he knows his territory and its people quite well. These very harsh words were directed at the Conservatives' attitude on this issue.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3943415\" data-originallang=\"fr\">My colleague mentioned the consultations that had been held and the fact that the chosen option was not at all the most popular one. Mr. Kakfwi said that, in the end, the Conservatives had chosen to create a doughnut-shaped park with a big hole in the middle. The hole would be a non-protected area where mining exploration could take place. It appears that environmental and economic issues must always be weighed against each other.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3943416\" data-originallang=\"fr\">I would like to hear the hon. member's comments on the former Northwest Territories premier's opinion with regard to the way the government ignored the people who live there and the consultations held.</p>",

D'ailleurs, j'ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 pos\u00e9 la question plus t\u00f4t ce matin. L'ancien premier ministre des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, Stephen Kakfwi, a quand m\u00eame eu des mots assez durs par rapport \u00e0 ces propositions. Je pense qu'il conna\u00eet bien son territoire et les gens qui le peuplent. Ces mots tr\u00e8s durs concernaient l'attitude des conservateurs dans ce dossier.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3943415\" data-originallang=\"fr\"> La d\u00e9put\u00e9e a mentionn\u00e9 entre autres toute la consultation qui a eu lieu et que l'option retenue n'\u00e9tait pas, et de loin, la plus populaire, bien au contraire. M. Kakfwi a parl\u00e9 du fait que les conservateurs, au bout du compte, ont r\u00e9ellement pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 cr\u00e9er un parc en forme de beigne avec un grand trou au milieu, qui sera une zone non prot\u00e9g\u00e9e o\u00f9 on pourra faire de l'exploration mini\u00e8re. \u00c9videmment, il faut toujours soupeser les questions environnementales et \u00e9conomiques. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"3943416\" data-originallang=\"fr\">J'aimerais avoir les commentaires de la d\u00e9put\u00e9e sur cette opinion de l'ancien premier ministre des Territoires du Nord-Ouest par rapport \u00e0 la sourde oreille qu'a fait le gouvernement en ce qui concerne les gens qui y habitent et \u00e0 la consultation qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite.</p>"
