        "en": "<p data-HoCid=\"2676746\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, I would like to advise the hon. member that with the last incarnation of the bill, I took the time to sit down with the chief of police of my city and the head of the gun registry, both of whom are fully supportive of retaining the gun registry, which includes keeping long guns on the gun registry. There is, of course, no such instrument as the long gun registry.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2676747\" data-originallang=\"en\">I was informed by the chief of police that the key reason officers were able to arrest and eventually convict two of the perpetrators in the killings of four RCMP officers at Mayerthorpe was the gun registry. That was how they were able to track down the gun.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2676748\" data-originallang=\"en\">There have been countless examples given by police officers across the country of how many times they use this mechanism and they have stated that it is useful to them. The Canadian Association of Police Boards, Canadian Professional Police Association, Canadian Emergency Physicians and medical officers of health have found it to be useful. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2676749\" data-originallang=\"en\">Would the member prefer that this useful instrument not be available to identify weapons which could maim, kill or cause suicide?</p>",

C'est gr\u00e2ce au registre qu'ils ont pu finir par retrouver l'arme \u00e0 feu en cause.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2676748\" data-originallang=\"en\">Des policiers de partout au pays ont donn\u00e9 un nombre incalculable d'exemples concernant la fr\u00e9quence \u00e0 laquelle ils se servent de cet outil et ils ont affirm\u00e9 qu'il leur est utile. L'Association canadienne des commissions de police, l'Association canadienne de la police professionnelle, l'Association canadienne des m\u00e9decins d'urgence de m\u00eame que des m\u00e9decins conseils en sant\u00e9 publique ont indiqu\u00e9 qu'il leur \u00e9tait utile.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2676749\" data-originallang=\"en\">Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 pr\u00e9f\u00e8re-t-il que cet outil utile ne soit pas disponible pour identifier des armes qui peuvent mutiler, tuer ou \u00eatre l'instrument d'un suicide?</p>"
