It is about Parliament's right to know. It is about Parliament's right to information. It is a fundamental right and it is necessary for the proper functioning of Parliament. It is the core to our democracy.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2330415\" data-originallang=\"en\"> Legitimate requests for documents of the government have been rebuffed. This is indefensible. The government is always attempting to defend the indefensible to have us believe the unbelievable, and we will not stand for that. We need the documents we requested. We need them today.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2330416\" data-originallang=\"en\">I will give another example where there is insufficient information for us to perform our duties. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2330417\" data-originallang=\"en\">Regarding Bill <a data-HoCid=\"4445748\" href=\"/bills/40-3/C-16/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Criminal Code\">C-16</a> to end house arrests, from the information provided to the House, how much would it cost? None, zero, but we all know that Bill C-16 would put more people in jail. Yet the government is telling us Bill C-16 will not cost another red penny.</p>",

C'est ind\u00e9fendable. Le gouvernement cherche toujours \u00e0 d\u00e9fendre l'ind\u00e9fendable pour nous faire croire l'incroyable, chose que nous ne saurons tol\u00e9rer. Nous avons besoin des documents demand\u00e9s. Nous en avons besoin d\u00e8s aujourd'hui.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2330416\" data-originallang=\"en\">Je vais citer l'exemple d'un autre dossier dans lequel nous ne pouvons exercer nos fonctions parce que nous ne disposons pas des renseignements n\u00e9cessaires.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2330417\" data-originallang=\"en\">D'apr\u00e8s les renseignements fournis \u00e0 la Chambre, combien co\u00fbterait le projet de loi <a data-HoCid=\"4445748\" href=\"/bills/40-3/C-16/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Criminal Code\">C-16</a>, qui vise l'\u00e9limination de la d\u00e9tention \u00e0 domicile? Rien du tout, mais nous savons tous qu'en vertu du projet de loi C-16, plus de gens se retrouveraient en prison.
