We need both upper- and lower-level monitoring using both Brewer methodology and ozonesondes. A senior Environment Canada bureaucrat who publicly defended the federal government's plan to cut funding and eliminate redundancy within the country's ozone monitoring programs privately approved a briefing note that concluded there was in fact no duplication in the network. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2589670\" data-originallang=\"en\">The petitioners call upon the <a data-HoCid=\"165138\" href=\"/politicians/peter-kent/\" title=\"Peter Kent\">Minister of the Environment</a> to develop a plan to ensure the integrity of the ozone monitoring program and to commission a report to assess the adequacy of Canadian contributions to the global observing system for climate in support of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. </p>",
