        "en": "<p data-HoCid=\"2094637\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, I thank my friend from <a data-HoCid=\"128501\" href=\"/politicians/john-cannis/\" title=\"John Cannis\">Scarborough Centre</a> for a most compelling speech from history.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094638\" data-originallang=\"en\">There was not a lot in his speech that talked about where Canada is going or the direction we are taking Canada in. The fact is that the member spent most of his speech talking down Canada, talking down our economy. Perhaps he should cheer up.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094639\" data-originallang=\"en\">We are in the best position in the G7, fiscally and financially far ahead of many of the other countries. It is because of the leadership we had in place that paid down debt to put us in a good, solid position.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094640\" data-originallang=\"en\">I have two questions. The member was suggesting that we were actually not helping unemployed Canadians when we changed what was recommended and reduced the recommended increase in EI for workers, to encourage our employers to hire more Canadians, when the day before that announcement was made, the Liberals, the Bloc and the NDP actually stood in the House and voted to raise EI premiums by 35% at a cost of $7 billion per year. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094641\" data-originallang=\"en\">Then the member criticizes our prudent measure of making sure that we did not hurt industries.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094642\" data-originallang=\"en\">Also could the member enlighten us as to where he was in government when the $58 billion that was in the EI fund disappeared into general revenues? I wonder if he could give a little insight into whether he had any idea where that went.</p>",

En fait, le d\u00e9put\u00e9 a pass\u00e9 la plus grande partie de son discours \u00e0 d\u00e9nigrer le Canada, \u00e0 d\u00e9nigrer notre \u00e9conomie. Il devrait plut\u00f4t se r\u00e9jouir.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094639\" data-originallang=\"en\">Nous sommes le mieux plac\u00e9 de tous les pays du G7, et notre situation budg\u00e9taire et financi\u00e8re est de loin pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable \u00e0 celle de beaucoup d'autres pays. S'il en est ainsi, c'est que nos dirigeants ont rembours\u00e9 la dette en vue de consolider notre position.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094640\" data-originallang=\"en\">J'ai deux questions \u00e0 poser. Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 a laiss\u00e9 entendre que nous n'avons pas aid\u00e9 les Canadiens au ch\u00f4mage quand nous avons r\u00e9duit l'augmentation recommand\u00e9e des cotisations d'assurance-emploi afin d'encourager les employeurs \u00e0 embaucher davantage. Mais le jour avant l'annonce, les lib\u00e9raux, les bloquistes et les n\u00e9o-d\u00e9mocrates ont vot\u00e9 en faveur d'une augmentation de 35 p. 100 des cotisations d'assurance-emploi, ce qui repr\u00e9senterait un co\u00fbt annuel de 7 milliards de dollars.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094641\" data-originallang=\"en\">Et ensuite, le d\u00e9put\u00e9 a critiqu\u00e9 les mesures prudentes que nous avons prises pour ne pas nuire aux industries.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"2094642\" data-originallang=\"en\">De plus, le d\u00e9put\u00e9 pourrait-il nous \u00e9clairer sur le poste qu'il occupait au gouvernement quand les 58 milliards de dollars de la caisse d'assurance-emploi ont disparu et se sont perdus dans les recettes g\u00e9n\u00e9rales? Je me demande s'il pourrait nous expliquer o\u00f9 cet argent est pass\u00e9.</p>"
