        "en": "<p data-HoCid=\"1765337\" data-originallang=\"en\">Madam Speaker, I have spent a fair bit of time on aboriginal and first nations issues, particularly matrimonial and property rights, which are still with us.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1765338\" data-originallang=\"en\">There is nothing in Bill <a data-HoCid=\"4268485\" href=\"/bills/40-2/C-62/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act\">C-62</a> that affects aboriginal legislation. However, it is kind of interesting to note that if we were to have consultations today with aboriginals with regard to Bill <a data-HoCid=\"4268485\" href=\"/bills/40-2/C-62/\" title=\"An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act\">C-62</a>, the only choice would be to defeat it or not, because there is no clause in here that we can even talk about concerning aboriginals.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1765339\" data-originallang=\"en\">The consultation for aboriginal persons is with the Province of Ontario, in the legislature of Ontario, with regard to Ontario legislation. That is where the hearings and the representations have to be made. The only representations that would be made here would be if there were amendments proposed to the rules related to the taxation of first nations people.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1765340\" data-originallang=\"en\">It is easy to say, but quite frankly, what the member is suggesting is that we should make the decision here as to whether or not we want to allow a province to harmonize its tax. That is not in the best interests of Canadians.</p>",

C'est \u00e0 Queen's Park que les audiences doivent avoir lieu et que les points de vue doivent \u00eatre exprim\u00e9s. Les seules discussions qu'il pourrait y avoir ici devraient porter sur des amendements \u00e9ventuellement propos\u00e9s qui toucheraient les dispositions fiscales concernant les Premi\u00e8res nations.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1765340\" data-originallang=\"en\">Ce que donne \u00e0 entendre la d\u00e9put\u00e9e, c'est que c'est nous, ici, qui devrions d\u00e9cider si oui ou non, il faut laisser une province harmoniser sa taxe de vente et la TPS. Cela n'est pas dans l'int\u00e9r\u00eat des Canadiens.</p>"
