"en": "<p data-HoCid=\"1614431\" data-originallang=\"en\">Mr. Speaker, I listened with interest to the excellent speech by my hon. colleague and I want to follow up on his comments about the HST.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1614432\" data-originallang=\"en\">I know that the HST was first brought into this country in 1997 by the previous Liberal government, which signed HST agreements with maritime provinces. I know that the Liberals also supported the budget in January of this year, which contained several billions of dollars from the federal government to the provinces in exchange for their agreement to harmonize the taxes.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1614433\" data-originallang=\"en\">When the members opposite say that this is a provincial decision, I wonder why, if that is the case, they saw fit to provide almost $6 billion in federal transfer payments to the provinces as enticement for them to enter into the HST. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1614434\" data-originallang=\"en\">I would be interested to hear my hon. colleague's comments on that.</p>",

Je sais qu'en janvier dernier, les lib\u00e9raux ont aussi appuy\u00e9 le budget, lequel contenait plusieurs milliards de dollars destin\u00e9s aux provinces en \u00e9change de leur consentement \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard de l'harmonisation des taxes.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1614433\" data-originallang=\"en\">Lorsque les d\u00e9put\u00e9s d'en face affirment qu'il s'agit d'une d\u00e9cision des provinces, je me demande pourquoi, si c'est le cas, ils ont jug\u00e9 appropri\u00e9 de verser aux provinces pr\u00e8s de 6 milliards de dollars sous forme de paiements de transfert f\u00e9d\u00e9raux pour les inciter \u00e0 souscrire au projet de TVH.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1614434\" data-originallang=\"en\">J'aimerais conna\u00eetre les observations de mon coll\u00e8gue \u00e0 ce sujet.</p>"
