Last year, that is a year later, following the budget, a committee was formed to study the issue. That committee's mandate was supposed to expire on September 30, but it was just extended for several more months. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"750829\" data-originallang=\"fr\">Is the <a data-HoCid=\"78738\" href=\"/politicians/stephen-harper/\" title=\"Stephen Harper\">Prime Minister</a> aware that, because of his behaviour, because he did not keep his word and honour the commitment made in the Speech from the Throne, today, that is a year and a half later, a lot of people are forced to rely on welfare? These are older workers who do not have access to training to find another job.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"750830\" data-originallang=\"fr\">And the <a data-HoCid=\"78738\" href=\"/politicians/stephen-harper/\" title=\"Stephen Harper\">Prime Minister</a> has better not tell me again that these people should think about retraining. They worked for the same company for 30 or 35 years and are now 58 or 60 years old. Today, they have to rely on welfare. Unfortunately, some of them have even gone as far as to take their own lives. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"750831\" data-originallang=\"fr\">Will the <a data-HoCid=\"78738\" href=\"/politicians/stephen-harper/\" title=\"Stephen Harper\">Prime Minister</a> finally honour the commitment that was made? And will he see to it that a real support program for older workers is established? Such a program would help them keep their dignity by giving them income security until they are eligible for old age security benefits. </p>",

Ces personnes ont travaill\u00e9 pendant 30 ans, 35 ans au sein d'une entreprise et sont maintenant \u00e2g\u00e9s de 58 ans, de 60 ans. Aujourd'hui, ils doivent b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de l'aide sociale. Malheureusement, dans certains cas, certains se sont rendus jusqu'au suicide.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"750831\" data-originallang=\"fr\">Le <a data-HoCid=\"78738\" href=\"/politicians/stephen-harper/\" title=\"Stephen Harper\">premier ministre</a> s'assurera-t-il enfin de respecter l'engagement qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 pris? De plus, s'assurera-t-il de la mise sur pied d'un v\u00e9ritable programme d'aide aux travailleurs \u00e2g\u00e9s? Un tel programme leur permettrait d'assurer dignement leur s\u00e9curit\u00e9 sur le plan du revenu en attendant leur pension de vieillesse.</p>"
