It is a short bill to amend the Corrections and Conditional Release Act. It would allow police forces throughout the land to arrest without warrant a person who is in breach of a condition of parole or statutory release. It has been stated to me by a number of police officers throughout the country that if they had the ability to do this, they would be able to prevent a number of crimes from happening. I believe that prevention is a major concern and a major goal of all parties of the House.
\n
When the idea was presented to me by the police forces, it was thought that it would be an extremely useful preventive tool. It would prevent death, injury and harm to property and lives of other Canadians. I hope this will become law soon.
\n
(Motions deemed adopted, bill read the first time and printed.)
",
