"en": "<p data-HoCid=\"1858068\" data-originallang=\"en\">Thank you, Mr. Chairman.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858069\" data-originallang=\"en\">As Hugh MacDiarmid just stated, the NRU repair and return to service is making steady progress in addressing the remaining unique repairs. Now we would like to take this opportunity to provide additional detail on the repairs and highlight how our outage team is successfully managing the repair process.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858070\" data-originallang=\"en\">The final sequence of repairs is the most challenging. The repair areas are the largest, increasing the complexity of achieving a lasting repair while managing the stresses on the vessel. Each of these repair sites requires a unique strategy in repair design. The repair team is now employing a combination of welded plates, vertical and horizontal structural welds for plate attachment, and finally, both vertical and horizontal weld buildup. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858071\" data-originallang=\"en\">We now have completed the repair design for the remaining sites. With this information and the experience gained in the last sequence of repairs, we have revised our outage schedule, which has resulted in the extension announced recently.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858072\" data-originallang=\"en\">To confirm our revised plan we assembled an expert advisory panel earlier this month for a workshop to examine our repair strategy. The group includes Canadian and international experts in specialized welding solutions, reactor technology, and outage management. The panel confirmed that AECL is using the correct repair techniques, that the NRU is indeed repairable, and that our revised schedule is realistic. The panel also agrees that AECL is appropriately balancing the competing priorities of a lasting repair, minimizing the risk of damage to the reactor vessel, and minimizing the outage duration.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858073\" data-originallang=\"en\">The process of preparing to complete the final and largest repair involves four phases, which must be carried out in sequence. These phases are weld development, welder qualification and reliability testing, integration testing, and finally, the repair of the vessel.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858074\" data-originallang=\"en\">Weld development is the longest and most difficult phase to plan and schedule, since a number of weld trials and engineering analyses must be completed to arrive at the optimum solution. For the final repair site this process began in January, and steady progress has been made to date.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858075\" data-originallang=\"en\">Next, the weld machines must be programmed, specific weld procedures must be developed, and the welders qualified to complete them. The repair sequence must be refined to allow the welders to train on the techniques to the point that a quality weld can be made repeatedly. This process is referred to as qualification and reliability testing.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858076\" data-originallang=\"en\">After successful completion of the welder qualification and reliability testing, we proceed to integration testing. This is a full rehearsal of the repair from start to finish. All of the remote tooling to prepare the vessel for welding and to complete the repairs is used in the full height mock-up to confirm that the teams, and the execution of each of the procedures, fit together to deliver the required result. The reason we spend so much time on the rehearsal phase is because once we're in the vessel we need to get it right the first time.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858077\" data-originallang=\"en\">Finally, when all of these phases have been completed flawlessly, the repair team is ready to go to the reactor vessel. The preparation is extensive and time-consuming, but the results speak for themselves. To date every repair site has passed all required non-destructive examination. To minimize the time required on the outage-critical path, we continue to work on a 24-hour-day, seven-day-a-week basis without interruption. Returning the NRU to safe and reliable operation to support medical isotope production remains the focus of the outage team and AECL's primary objective.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858078\" data-originallang=\"en\">Thank you, Mr. Chair. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858079\" data-originallang=\"en\">With your permission, I would like to show some samples of the repair welding. I think they would help to understand the complexity of this job.</p>",

Ces phases sont les suivantes: les travaux pr\u00e9paratoires de soudage, la qualification et la fiabilit\u00e9 des soudeurs, les essais d'int\u00e9gration et, enfin, la r\u00e9paration de la cuve. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858074\" data-originallang=\"en\">Les travaux pr\u00e9paratoires de soudage constituent la phase la plus longue et la plus complexe en mati\u00e8re de planification et d'\u00e9ch\u00e9ance, puisqu'un certain nombre d'essais de soudage et d'analyses d'ing\u00e9nierie doivent \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9s avant d'en arriver \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer la meilleure solution. Pour ce qui est de la derni\u00e8re zone, le processus a \u00e9t\u00e9 amorc\u00e9 en janvier et, jusqu'\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, les progr\u00e8s sont constants. </p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858075\" data-originallang=\"en\">Ensuite, il faut programmer les machines de soudage, \u00e9laborer des proc\u00e9dures de soudage particuli\u00e8res et demander \u00e0 des soudeurs qualifi\u00e9s de les compl\u00e9ter. La s\u00e9quence des r\u00e9parations doit \u00eatre raffin\u00e9e pour permettre aux soudeurs de ma\u00eetriser les techniques de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 produire sans cesse des soudures de qualit\u00e9. C'est la phase de la qualification et de la fiabilit\u00e9.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858076\" data-originallang=\"en\">Apr\u00e8s avoir termin\u00e9 cette phase, nous proc\u00e9dons aux essais d'int\u00e9gration. Il s'agit d'une simulation compl\u00e8te de la r\u00e9paration, du d\u00e9but \u00e0 la fin. On utilise une gamme d'outils \u00e0 distance pour pr\u00e9parer la cuve au soudage et terminer les r\u00e9parations dans la maquette pleine hauteur pour confirmer que les \u00e9quipes ma\u00eetrisent l'ex\u00e9cution de chacune des proc\u00e9dures pour obtenir le r\u00e9sultat requis. La raison pour laquelle nous consacrons tellement de temps \u00e0 la phase de simulation, c'est parce qu'une fois dans la cuve, nous devons r\u00e9ussir du premier coup.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"1858077\" data-originallang=\"en\">Enfin, lorsque toutes ces phases sont men\u00e9es \u00e0 bien, l'\u00e9quipe de r\u00e9paration est pr\u00eate \u00e0 descendre dans la cuve du r\u00e9acteur. La pr\u00e9paration est laborieuse et longue, mais les r\u00e9sultats sont \u00e9loquents. \u00c0 ce jour, chaque zone de r\u00e9paration a subi tous les examens non destructifs requis. Pour r\u00e9duire au minimum le d\u00e9lai requis dans le chemin critique de la mise \u00e0 l'arr\u00eat, nous continuons de travailler jour et nuit, sans aucune interruption.
