Just to go back quickly.... The decision was made that we would send this to the committee to look at. If we had wanted to pass it quickly.... Everyone plays these games with unanimous consent motions in the House. That would have been an option to see if that actually was something that people could have agreed upon, but we agreed upon something different, and that was to come here.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"6764083\" data-originallang=\"en\">I know what it is like to have a private member's bill that doesn't make it across the wire. I have had one moving into second reading in the Senate when an election was called. I did get another chance to pass one. Anyway, I don't think it's the right precedent because if we start to do that, to say \u201cOnce we get it in here, let's try to push it through as quickly as possible,\u201d that isn't fair to other private members' bills that are working their way through the system.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"6764084\" data-originallang=\"en\"> As much as I would love to get the discussion in here, to shut it down now wouldn't be right, so I agree that we should have more meetings rather than fewer.</p>",

Il aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 possible de voir si c'\u00e9tait vraiment un aspect sur lequel les gens auraient pu s'entendre, mais nous avons convenu d'une autre solution, qui \u00e9tait d'en saisir le Comit\u00e9.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"6764083\" data-originallang=\"en\">Je sais ce que c'est que d'avoir un projet de loi d'initiative parlementaire qui ne franchit pas toutes les \u00e9tapes. Un de mes projets de loi d'initiative parlementaire devait passer \u00e0 l'\u00e9tape de la deuxi\u00e8me lecture au S\u00e9nat lorsqu'une \u00e9lection a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9clench\u00e9e. J'ai eu une autre occasion d'en faire adopter un. Quoi qu'il en soit, je ne pense pas que ce soit un pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent \u00e0 \u00e9tablir, car si nous commen\u00e7ons \u00e0 agir ainsi, \u00e0 dire qu'un projet de loi doit \u00eatre adopt\u00e9 le plus rapidement possible une fois que le Comit\u00e9 en est saisi, ce serait injuste \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard des autres projets de loi d'initiative parlementaire qui traversent le processus.</p>\n<p data-HoCid=\"6764084\" data-originallang=\"en\">M\u00eame si je pr\u00e9f\u00e9rais que la discussion ait lieu ici, il ne serait pas bien d'arr\u00eater cela maintenant.
